St. George, Soccer and San Diego

February has been a busy month for us.
Murray Max played in The WInter Soccer Tournament in St George over Presidents weekend. This gave us the perfect excuse to visit with Ross's parents and family in St George. They were nice enough to come to a few games and spend some time with us! (Thanks!)

We returned Monday evening so that Ross and I could re-pack and fly out on Tuesday Morning to San Diego. Ross had some business to attend to and I went along for fun!
We were able to eat at some great places and visit with my sister and the kids in Tumecula- about an hours drive from San Diego. We went to our favorite hangs there- Point Loma, Old Town and Sea Port Village and we found a few to add to our list- like the GasLamp District. I think that I could find a bench near the ocean and sit for days! It is so beautiful and peaceful!
We saw a few cool sights- like a submarine being pulled to the shore- and some huge ships heading out to the big blue beyond.
At home, we were invited to a soccer meeting for the teams and Baylie received this awesome trophy. She was voted Outstanding player of the year for by her teammates and the coach had some nice words to say about her- which I cant quote- but I will do my best- "Baylie brings a lot of energy to the team and her ball handling skills are exceeded by none other on the team. She truly is a friend to each team member."
I would have to add that she truly sticks up for these girls- If (I) ever say anything negative about one of the teammates- she bites my head off!!

The JOY's of getting OLD(er)

Happy Birthday Ross!
Ross made the mistake of telling me about the following experience with Jayce- and as I laughed, he said "Oh no you don't! This does not go on your blog!" Silly man! I had already planned on a very special Birthday Boy Blog for him- and this was the story I was looking for!
At church on Sunday Jayce was a little more than just hyper! When Jayce is in a good mood- he is LOUD, and doesn't hold anything back!
At some point he ended up on Ross's lap and managed to set himself up for the perfect head butt, BUT just before impact he pulled back and exclaimed "WHOA DAD, I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO GET STABBED!"
Ross has a mole on his nose that grows this one long black hair- and that hair saved him from the head butt!
Ross is feeling self-conscious about the nose hair- he is afraid that you will all be looking- and its okay- take a good look- just don't get too close, you don't want to get stabbed!
We hope you have a great birthday!

UPDATE!

After the Interviewing process with Unified Fire Authority, Jordan is sitting at #1 on the "Chiefs List" - this is the list that the hiring board gives to the chief- it is their recommendations based on the entire testing process. I am so very proud of him!
Still, it does not guarantee a hire- but its looking promising for him!
(By the way- this information is top secret! - Don't tell anyone until I give you the go-ahead!!)
You are awesome Jordan!

I HAVE TO TELL YOU!

My next post is seriously a BIRTHDAY BOY post for Ross! But I had to sneek this one in because I cant stand to not tell everyone!
Our Jordan has been going through the testing process for Unified Fire Authority. Its a tough process and long- really long! After the written test which was taken by hundreds of people, he was #8 on the list- missed only three questions on the test! You can see its a tough competition. After Oral Interviews he has moved up to #2 on the list. The Fire Department will hire off of this list. Being #2 does not guarantee you anything- but it is definitely a great place to be! Jordan has worked on Wild Land and Paid Call for this dept and really loves it!
Good Job Jordan!!

25 Random Things about ME!

I did this on Facebook not too long ago- so feel free to skip it if you cant bear anymore!

1- I have 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
2- I used to be a gymnast- no longer that talented!
3- I HAVE to scrub my shower out each day after I shower- cant help it!
4- A psychiatrist once told me that I am an OVERACHIEVER who sets goals to under-achieve! (I just want to be normal!)
5- I am terribly shy and dislike being put on the spot- or being in a spotlight.
6- I LOVE sports- Baseball and Basketball especially- but I will watch all sports.
7- I am addicted to Diet Coke. It is breakfast, lunch and dinner- snacks too! (Becky G- I always feel better when you bring your Diet Pepsi to the early games! Its good to have a fellow drinker in the AM!)
8- I have a brother who is living with us! He is a great guy to have around!
9- My sisters and sister-in-law(s) are amazing people to me. I am incredibly lucky to have a great family!
10- I live next door to my in-laws, across the street from a brother-in-law and a few houses down from an aunt, uncle and cousins- then a few houses the other way is another aunt and another cousin and her family---- well, you get the picture! It has not always been easy for me but I enjoy it more and more!
11- You may wonder why I was seeing a psychiatrist?!? I wasn't (not saying that I shouldn't) but he is a neighbor who is very observant!
12- I love San Diego and Seattle! LOVE THEM!
13- I have never traveled out of the country (okay- I did go to Mexico) But I dream of going to Ireland and Scotland- and then Australia!

Kelcey is feisty and impatient and little things set her off- and then in a snap shes calm and nice! Baylie is goofy and quiet and sarcastic- can tick Kelcey off in a flash and she knows it! Jayce has a huge imagination and LOVES his family!
20- I get a little too chatty when I am typing- WEIRD!

A Valentine!

According to Mr. Webster, a Valentine is simply a card or a gift sent to ones sweetheart on February 14.
He then explains that a Sweetheart is a beloved or dear person!
We all have our special sweetheart. Ross is mine, and my children are right up there with him (and I consider my Daughter-in-law one of my very own as well!)
But when I think of all the people who are BELOVED and DEAR to me- that encompasses nearly everyone I know! So it would then be appropriate to send you each a very special Valentine!
This is that special Valentine! I hope you like it! Even more than that, I hope you know how much you mean to me! I am a very lucky lady!
